Pesarattu (Green Gram Dosa)

Pesarattu is a nutritious South Indian dosa made with green gram (moong dal). Using our fresh dosa batter as the base, you can prepare a quick and tasty pesarattu with added protein and flavor. It is commonly served with ginger chutney and makes a healthy breakfast option.

Ingredients

  • 1½ cups our fresh dosa batter

  • ½ cup green gram (soaked for 4 hours)

  • 1 green chilli

  • 1 inch ginger

  • ½ tsp cumin seeds

  • Salt (optional)

  • ¼ cup onion (finely chopped)

  • 2 tbsp coriander leaves (chopped)

  • Oil or ghee for cooking

Preparation

  1. Soak green gram (moong dal) in water for about 4 hours.

  2. Grind the soaked green gram with green chilli, ginger, and cumin seeds into a slightly coarse paste using little water.

  3. Mix this paste with our dosa batter in a bowl.

  4. Add salt if required and mix well to form a smooth batter.

Cooking Instructions

  1. Heat a dosa tawa on medium flame.

  2. Pour one ladle of the batter in the center of the tawa.

  3. Spread it gently in a circular motion to make a medium-thin dosa.

  4. Sprinkle chopped onion and coriander leaves on top.

  5. Drizzle oil around the edges.

  6. Cook until the bottom turns golden and crispy.

  7. Flip and cook the other side for about 1 minute.

  8. Fold and remove from the tawa.

Serving Suggestion

Serve hot with ginger chutney, coconut chutney, or sambar for a healthy and flavorful meal.
